Superior and Douglas County offer a vibrant place to with four seasons of pristine natural beauty by the lake shore and parks, and a vibrant community atmosphere with events on both sides of the Twin Ports.


Local residents love to be out and about, enjoying a life with variety of outdoor activities in all seasons. Local outdoor recreational activities including canoeing, kayaking, ski trails, ATV trail, biking, fishing and boating are just some of the pleasures to life that Superior –Douglas County residents can take advantage of.

The area boasts 20 city parks, including the second largest municipal park in the nation. Pattison (which boasts the tallest waterfall in Wisconsin) and Amnicon Falls State parks are only a short drive away, as well as the Brule River State forest. The Douglas County forest is the largest in Wisconsin.

An excellent education system

The area has excellent public, private and parochial schools, as well as two colleges: University of Wisconsin –Superior and Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (which offers two year programs).

 

Neighboring Duluth, also offers three additional colleges, the public college, University of Minnesota –Duluth, a private Catholic Benedictine college and a two year community college. Douglas County has three school districts that include Superior, Maple and St. Croix.
